Program Information
The Program (Program Info presentation)
In existence for over thirty years, the AACSB-accredited ODU MBA Program has been designed to provide a high quality management education enhanced by many unique opportunities for students. The advantages of earning an MBA through Old Dominion University include:
-
Flexibility
Students can work on their MBA full-time or part-time. Classes are offered days, evenings, and weekends at our Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Peninsula Center (Hampton), Tri-Cities Center (Portsmouth), and Northern Virginia* locations, and semesters begin every August, January, and May. Our 48-credit hour program can be finished in as little as 18 months, or it can be structured over a greater length of time for working professionals with additional commitments.
-
Management Skill Development
Students have the opportunity to hone their management skills in areas of greatest interest and relevance by taking electives such as ethics, leadership, effective written communications, negotiation, and human resource regulations.
-
Networking Opportunities
The MBA Association, consisting of both students and alumni, provides members with social and educational events every semester. The Economics Club, Propeller Club and Landmark Speaker Series offers opportunities to discuss issues with local, national and international business leaders. The Career Management Center assists students in obtaining internship and full-time positions.
-
In-Depth Study
For students who would like to obtain greater depth in a particular field, we offer concentrations in Financial Analysis & Valuation, International Business, Public Administration, Information Technology & Enterprise Integration, Business & Economic Forecasting, and Maritime & Port Management. Students may also opt to complete their MBA without a concentration, by selecting electives from multiple disciplines to design a program that meets their career needs. Numerous study abroad options are available throughout the world for students interested in gaining a greater global focus in their MBA study. Case studies, lectures, and independent research projects are the major components of an integrated approach to the study of business management and the MBA program at Old Dominion University.
-
Dynamic Learning Environment
The MBA Program on the Norfolk campus is housed in Constant Hall, which has been completely renovated and features state-of-the-art wireless classrooms and executive education facilities.

Old Dominion University
Old Dominion University had its formal beginning in 1930 as a branch of the College of William and Mary and has since matured into an independent state institution with over 21,000 students. The 200-acre campus is bound on two sides by the Lafayette and Elizabeth rivers; its northern section reflects the influence of the College of William and Mary in its Georgian architecture, stately trees, and basket-weave brick walks. The southern section of the campus includes an eight-acre mall bordered by most of the University's academic buildings.
Old Dominion University is located in Norfolk, Virginia, the center of a metropolitan area with a population of approximately 1.5 million. Norfolk is the hub of the world's largest natural harbor and is regarded as a national leader in business and industry. As part of a major recreational area known for its beaches and historical landmarks, Norfolk also profits from its relationship with the Navy, its proximity to Washington, D.C., and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Old Dominion University is composed of six colleges: Arts & Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Engineering & Technology, Health Sciences, and Sciences. There are currently 66 baccalaureate programs, 67 master's programs, two educational specialist degrees, and 24 doctoral degrees.
