Five Year BS/MBA Degree
The Five-Year Program is a highly selective program designed for students in the Colleges of Arts and Letters, Education, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, and Sciences, or students who are earning a BA in Economics. Students studying in these fields who have been formally accepted into the Five-Year Program complete a business core during their senior year. All students interested in pursuing the Five-Year Program should plan their undergraduate course of study based on the requirements of the program as outlined below.
Entrance Requirement
- Achieved a minimum Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 550.
- Completed all lower level general education requirements.
- Completed at least 24 credit hours at Old Dominion University with a GPA of at least 3.00.
- A minimum index of 1200. The index is computed as 200 times the ODU GPA plus the GMAT score.
- Achieved senior standing at Old Dominion University.
- Completed a calculus course, equivalent to Math 200 (calculus for business and economics).
Admissions Procedure
Students interested in the program should plan to take the GMAT at least two semesters prior to the semester in which they plan to enroll. Students planning to enroll in the Fall of their senior year should take the GMAT during the Fall of their junior year. Applications should be submitted to the MBA Program office at the beginning of one full semester (Fall, Spring) prior to planned enrollment.
Students interested in the program should discuss their plans with the MBA Program Manager as early as possible. The MBA Program Manager will act as their advisor. The MBA Program Office can be contacted in person at 1026 Constant Hall, by phone at 683-3585 or by email.
Business Core - MBA Courses
Students accepted into the Five-Year Program must complete the following courses from the MBA core during their senior year. These credit hours will count toward their undergraduate degree only. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in these courses.

Miscellaneous Requirements
All students are required to take an international course, either as part of their concentration or as a general elective.
All students are responsible for selecting at least three one-hour modules during their tenure in the program. The one-hour modules cover a variety of topics such as effective written communications, ethics, and leadership. Grading is on a pass /fail basis.
Concentrations are available for those students who want to achieve a greater depth of knowledge in a particular area. A concentration consists of exactly 12 hours of elective course work beyond the core.
